It was originally home to the Phoenicians, and then subsequently conquered and occupied by the Assyrians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Arabs, the Crusaders, the Ottoman Turks and most recently the French. We are reading “Olive Kitteridge” by Elizabeth Strout.
As the townspeople of Crosby, Maine grapple with their problems,
mild and serious, Olive Kitteridge, an outspoken retired school math
teacher, is brought to a deeper understanding of herself and her life
– sometimes with pain but always with complete honesty. Olive Kitteridge
offers deep insight into the human condition - its conflicts,
tragedies and joys, and the endurance it requires.
Join us for thoughtful conversation and coffee, even if you
haven’t had time to read it. New members always welcome.
